Operating Agreement

This agreement was formulated to insure that 100% of funds donated would go to the scholarship. There are no administrative or operating expenses. To that end the following agreement was adopted.

  1. To be formally organized as the Vassar W. Hurt III Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund.
  2. To have an interview board meet annually to select our scholarship winner(s) annually.
  3. To empower the board to award the scholarship(s).
  4. To have an annual meeting during homecoming to discuss any official business.
  5. To pay in-state tuition for one(1) year up to $3,000.00.
  6. To award the scholarship to a “C” student or higher with a demonstrated need who is a MS IV, MSIII or MSII pending acceptance to the Corps.
  7. To ask the Professor of Military Science to pre-screen and recommend all candidates.
  8. To require the winner to reapply annually if he/she needs the award more than one year.
  9. To ask that each supporter contribute $250.00 per year minimum with $500.00 per year being a goal.
  10. To establish this endowment in Vassar’s name that would provide a permanent source of funds for scholarships.
  11. To encourage the use of corporate matching funds to achieve our goals.
  12. To keep our efforts simple, uncomplicated, and always directed to the spirit of giving in Vassar’s memory.
